To my surprise, I recently encountered Kitao Masanobu's print "The Courtesan Nanasato Writing Poetry and Utagawa Reading with Attendants" (1784) from the famous album series 'Yoshiwara keisei shin bijin awase jihitsu kagami' in large ˘ban format. The print looked old (possible early 19th century??)and the coulours, blocklines and size matched with the original (the copy I know from the British Museum in London).
I'm still very sceptic that the print was an tirage from the original 2nd edition.
Can someone inform me that this series or particular print were later reprinted from original blocks or recuts or republished posthumously in large(r) quantities? On the other hand, is it possible that such an rare original print is circulating on the market?

Thanks.

Guy.
