: Who is good source of info on Moronobu bookplates?
: I have have 10 double page prints (some hand tinted)
: plus 4 single pages.

It is surprising, considering how important Moronobu is to the early art history of ukiyo-e and the extent of his acknowledged work, that there is no detailed monograph on this influential artist. He is recorded as having designs published in over 150 books, many of them in several volumes. Often the work from which book-plates have been obtained can be deduced from the (part) titles printed in the margins. If yours have kanji (or part kanji) at the edges let me know and if you can send photocopies or photographs I will try to help identify the source if my reference material can trace them.
