: There's an excellent article by Matthi Forrer on this subject in an early issue of Andon (#2, 1981), with a list of the Asahina prints (about 40 of them). It seems this was a yearly practice with Jinihari/Toyohiro and perhaps even carried on by Hiroshige after his master's passing. Very interesting subject!

This is the only (indeed excellent) article I know about, but if you look at the list lots of pieces in the puzzle are still missing, incomplete or even incorrect. For instance: the print described as no. 35 (Toyohiro - Achenbach Collection), in fact appeares to be no. 25 in the series. It's displayed in Roger Keyes' book "The Male Journey in Japanese Prints". I stumbled upon no. 35 myself, so this vacancy in the list has been filled. I hope to expand Forrer's list (hopefully with your help) and add extra data and images about the subject.

I already have to thank John Fiorillo and the Achebach Foundation for the effort they've already made to help me in this quest ...
