: Recently purchased oban sized "bird and flower" print by this artist (signature seal matches my sheet of seals) and if anyone has heard of and can offer any "biographical" information on this artist. Any information and references would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Sugakudo was a nineteenth century artist, a pupil of Hiroshige. He is best known for a couple of woodblock printed albums, usually found with yellow margins. His 'Birds and flowers of the four seasons' (Shiki no kacho) of 1861 and 'Precise illustrations of 48 hawks' (Sho utushi shiju-taka) of 1858.
