Dear Noel, This is definitely a design by Moronobu, from the picture book Iwaki etsukushi. I can't say if it is an original print though. It's hard to see from the scan, but the black pigments look rather flat, without the rich luster of an early printing.

: Hello, all, I'm helping a museum with research for a woodblock print show,
: and there are some prints which I can't identify - they are archaics, and
: that's not an area I know much about.

: Any help with identification of these would be greatly appreciated, even if
: it's only an educated guess about who the artist is, and roughly when it
: dates from. Of course, it someone can identify the work precisely, that would
: be fabulous.

: Anyway, here we go with the first one: it was attributed by the dealer from
: whom it was purchased to Hishikawa Moronobu, but that's all that there is on
: it. Anyone know more? Thanks in advance for any further info...

: Noel
