I’d like to buy more Koitsu prints in the next few years. I have seen some really fine prints with the offset Doi Hangaten publisher seal and the offset Yokoi and Harada printer/carver seals that have excellent color and fineness of line. I have been hesitant to buy these, thinking they were later editions. I really appreciate the information that you both provided, it was exactly what I was looking for. If the Hangaten seal truely appears on first edition prints of the Evening at Ushigome and Asakusa Kinryusan and others there maybe examples with visible woodgrain out there in some of these mid-late 1930’s prints.
Ross, I see Tosh Doi chart on the Doi carver/ printer seals on; it is an excellent piece of research. You said that “There are still 22 prints without Teiichi examples”. I was wondering if there was some sort of list somewhere which states the earliest seals known for each of Koitsu and perhaps each Hasui prints. This information would be godsend.
