Theo, Ethel and David,

I'm stunned!

Why would anyone offer a print, that could be sold for $30,000-80,000, on eBay with a starting bid of $50 and a reserve that isn't much higher? And how could so many people believe that there are sellers who are so stupid?

Apparently the highest bid rose from $350 to $1,325 in the last two hours, and the winning (or should I say 'losing'?) bid was thrown in with only 30 seconds to go. $1,325 may of course seem like a mere pittance compared to the possible value stated by the seller - but for a reproduction, described as "in not perfect condition, with some wrinkles around edges, very little light foxing, a stain mostly in right margin, etc", it is indeed a very handsome sum, even with that acid-free mat and the simple black frame.

It will be interesting to see if this print turns up on eBay again, when the buyer has had it appraised and wants to minimise his/her loss. Consider this a specific eBay warning! :-)

Best regards,
Hans Olof
