I think you're right. But I see a lot of "boar-fighting" in Ukiyo-e. Seems to have been a popular subject in Japanese Tales. There's also one in "100 views of mount Fuji" by Hokusai, for example. In that case more then one man is fighting the beast.

The rest of the pictures in my book are full of heroic deeds, although I was mistaken about the scene of the woman decapitating a man. This belongs to a second book I purchased and also is still unknown to me. I will probably post a question about it later on.
