Diana, it sounds like what your instructor is asking you to do is to look at a body of work, think about it, and distill its essential qualities. The purpose of the project is in the act, not the answer, because once you learn how to see discriminately, you can then apply the process to other works. Getting your answer from here or any other site will help you with your project in the short term, but not help in your self-development, which is the real point. Engaging with experts is only a help once you have developed some ideas of your own. Why don't you write back with what you consider to be the essential qualities of ukiyo-e, and start a dialogue with the people who watch this page? Then you would be speaking with people, not simply asking them to speak for you.
