A new book of Kawase Hasui's complete works came out recently, 'Kawase Hasui: The Complete Woodblock Prints'. It is limited to 2,500 copies. It's by Kendall H. Brown and sounds marvelous, but I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has actually seen it before I spend the $265 (rather a lot of money for me at the moment).
I have a modest collection of original Hasui prints and I hope to buy more some day, but I am no great scholar or aggressive collector. I am simply someone whose favorite artist is Hasui and I would like to look at many more of his prints and learn more about him and his craft. Given that, does it make sense for me to buy this book? Or is it primarily the equivilant of a baseball card 'beckett' of little interest to someone who is not buying and selling constantly?
There is yet to be a single review of the book on Amazon or anywhere else as far as I can tell, so any information or reviews would be very helpful. Thanks you.
