Huguette beres passes away and Sotheby's Paris had an auction of her collection of prints books and albums last year (Nov 27 2002). In it there were some spectacular books, not to mention prints. It is worth getting the catalog from the auction. It has about 50 pages of books that went up for sale starting from the Ise Monogatari
Utamaro's Shell Album sold for 81K Euros. Gianni Morra was selling Utamaro's insect book at some point for 20 to 30K.
I think the best bet in the long run is to save your money, wait for a collection to go up for sale such as the Beres collection, and buy as much as you can. However, I think auctions like that happen only once every 10 years.
