Message from a new convert to Ukiyo-e - this excellent site is at least partly to blame!
I recently purchased my first print, described as a "Hokusai" undivided proof (1886) published by Akiyama Buemon.
Presumably the fact that this (Chuban yoko-e) format is undivided indicates that this was produced from new woodcuts? My local
bookstore contains a copy of H.D.Smith's (1988) "Hokusai: 100 Views of Mt Fuji" (my print is cf. I/28) but makes no mention of
this particular edition.
The print includes blue/grey colouring.
Has anyone come across this version before or know anything about it?
Thanks & Regards
