: I have two Sharaku prints and am interested in finding sources of information about their history and how they relate to other prints in the series.

Mike:
One source of information on Sharaku's work is the book by Harold Henderson and Louis Ledoux, "The Surviving Works of Sharaku", originally published by Weyhe, New York, 1939, and republished in a cheaper, Dover edition in 1984, under the title "Sharaku's Japanese Theater Prints". In addition to the description of the prints, it gives an outline of the plot of the shows in which the actors appeared.
Regards,
Philip
