: I have a woodblock print entitled The Bridge of Rain
: signed by Yeisen. I have been told the artists name is
: Keisai Eisen. Do you have any information on this
: artist and/or this print? Thank you.
Eisen (1790-1848) is most noted for his bijinga, portraits of beautiful women, but he also designed many landscape prints. His most famous landscape prints are in the series Kisokaidô rokujûkyû-tsugi no uchi (From the sixty-nine stations of Kisokaidô, late 1830s), where he collaborated with Hiroshige.I don't recall seeing any Eisen prints depicting bridges in rain, though.
