Anna Bracero,

Kameido Tenjin Shrine is one of the subjects from Hiroshige's series "100 Famous Views of Edo" ('Meisho Edo hyakkei'). The original design was issued 7/1856 and should show in the middle distance one of the two "drum bridges" ('taikobashi') near the shrine, with wisteria hanging in the foreground. The dimensions of your print do not match the original (which should be roughly 37x24cm), so if it is not trimmed you might have a reproduction. The reference to The Brooklyn Museum probably indicates that a previous owner has made note of an impression in that collection (the museum has a complete, first edition of the entire series in excellent condition). I do not know why the date 1987 should appear in the margin.

John
