: : I was in Tokyo in 1992 and purchased two prints. While not a collector, I purchased them because they appealed to me. One print is called "Little Bird and Cherry Tree" by Hiroshige Ando and is approximately 5 1/4" X 15". I have seen his name and been able to find information about him. It is the second artist that I am unable to find information about. The print is of Water Lilies and is by an artist named Shodo according to the name that was written on the back of the folder that it was purchased in. It is almost 10" wide and a little more than 14" high.

: : I would appreciate any information about either print, but especially about the second.

: : Thank-you.

: hello

: Your "Shodo" print should be by Kawarazaki Shodo who specialized in flower prints in the 1950's. These will usually have no signature but will have the artist's seal reading "Shodo" in the image. This artist's works have been reproduced since the early 60's. He did a handful of images of waterplants. There is another artist, "Hodo", who did about 20 or so images of waterplants and sometimes he is confused with Shodo in a print's attribution.
: To be sure, maybe you should post a photo of your Shodo and also Hiroshige to get more feedback.

Thank-you for your response. I also received an e-mail with some information about Shodo. It will take me some time to be able to post pictures of the two prints, but I will do so and look forward to hearing more. Thank-you again.
