First, I would like to thank all of the regular contributors to this page for the wonderful
amount and quality of information.
I have been looking through all the web sites I can find on ukiyo-e, but I cannot find the
answer to a simple question. How many (lifetime) prints of Yoshida Hiroshi's Sailboat Morning
were made?
My father-in-law has a print that he purchased in Japan in the fifties, which he was unaware
was of any value. The print looks authentic to my unproffesional eye (I do have a degree in
art history) It has the jizuri seal, signature, and English title.
He is going to be taking the print to a gallery in New York City to have it appraised and possibly
sell it, but I wanted to be able to give him a "ballpark" estimate of its value before he goes
there. I just want to make sure he is treated fairly.
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!
