Hello, all, I'm trying to translate the tile of an obscure Yoshitoshi series I have run across, one that's not in Keyes. The title is '雅立 功名 鑑', and I'm struggling with the first part. ('功名' is 'kōmyō' ['great achievement'], and of course ' 鑑' is 'kagami' ['mirror'].)

I have one source that gives the title (possibly) as 'Mitate kōmyō kagami' (Mirror of Great Achievements)', but I'm somewhat dubious of that reading, 'mitate', (even allowing for the usual homonym 'puns' that one often finds in prints).

So, anyone have an alternative? (And, as usual, thanks in advance for any/all help!)

Noel
