Keyes’ reference numbers on Yoshitoshi represent the status of his research once he finished his standard book on the work of Yoshitoshi. But the research on the work of Yoshitoshi continued since then. Possibly there are now several series / prints by Yoshitoshi which are not mentioned by Keyes. If you want to keep the chronological order of the works in your reference file then you need a flexible index-number system which allows you to modify the number after every new entry. Keyes's reference numbers should be shown in a separate column for people who are familiar with them.
