Argh. I need to wake up more before I post! That should have been 1831 for the start of the first, which is sort of possible, if this is in fact Toyokuni II; according to the Wikipedia article on him:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utagawa_Toyokuni_II

the signature does seem to have his variant of the 'Toyo' character.

Anyway, this would help set the date, as Toyokuni II died in 1835, and stopped using the signature "Toyokuni" before then (although I couldn't quickly find out exactly when).

So possibly 1831-1835 for this print?
