Guy,
As I've mentioned in the past, I am easily fooled by artists' scripted signatures on prints and do not read Japanese. However, I also have some doubts about the reading of aratame, just on my visual observations.

Unfortunately, my local expert in reading Japanese is consumed with preparing the catalog for the Portland Art Museum's upcoming exhibition "The Artist's Touch The Craftsman's Hand: Three Centuries of Japanese Prints from the Portland Art Museum." When she has some time, I'll ask her to take a look at these signatures.
For the meantime, I posted as many images from the series Brocade Pictures for Moral Education as I've been able to pull off the web along with your Ritsumei database images and examples of "confirmed" signatures for Yoshitoshi's students Toshimitsu, Toshiaki and Toshikata. The captions for the Moral Education prints are just copied from the information that accompanied the images of these prints and therefore should not be relied upon as accurate. I thought having all the images posted in one place would be helpful to anyone else who wants to jump into this discussion.
