OK, so one more question in preparation for putting up the '8 Dog Heroes' page, which is, 'how to number/identify the prints in the series'.
I have found a title page, which you can see (I didn't include the image directly in this post, since this is a huge high-res image) here:

It lists 49 prints, and numbers them - but in two columns! They are labelled 右 ('migi', right), and 左 ('hidari' - left) - although just to be confusing, the left-hand column (as we look at the title page) is labelled 'right', and the right-hand is labelled 'left'! (I am going to guess this is something to do with some aspect of Kabuki about which I do not know. If anyone knows what is going on, I would appreciate hearing it!)
There is nothing on the prints themselves that puts them in any kind of sequence (other than the date). So I am thinking that the best way to identify the individual prints is to use the numbers from the title page, with 'L' or 'R' added as appropriate.
Does this sound like the way to go? And which 'left' should I use: the left-hand column as we see it, or the one labelled 'left'?
