This triptych was published in 1896, and it depicts the death of Kusunoki Masatsura (楠正行) in the battle of Shijônawate in 1348. You'll find another image of it in Ross F Walker's Ohmi Gallery (http://www.ohmigallery.com/DB/ItemDetail.asp?item=7793).

The identity of the artist is a bit of a puzzle, though. Ross Walker suggests the reading 久々秀, which could be pronounced as Kukuhide or Kukushu.

Best regards,
Hans Olof
