There are different techniques for dating prints depending upon the general era. Many Ukiyo-e prints have censor seals which are helpful. Later Meiji and shin-hanga prints have different methods of interpretation to determine the print date. There are disagreements amongst some collectors about how to interpret the various signs. It's very complicated, and there is no single set of comprehensive reference material to help.

Your best shot is to post a picture of the print that you are trying to date, along with close-up shots of any writing or seals from that print. With that done, someone here will be able to point you in the right direction.
