hi lita. we're in the same boat. i bought a double oban umataro azechi in a frame (why do i do this???) and hoped for the best. came home and had to pry a frame within a frame to access the print. this was a sign of things to come.

removed the entire backing. glued to the front along the margins and glued on the reverse in its entirety.

i've begun the extremely tedious job of removing the backing in layers of the mounting board, i have made it down to the print in some areas - perhaps 5% of the work.

i'm contemplating a very fine sand paper to try and remove more as a razor + care does not intersect with patience in my case.

well, there you have it, we've shared a bit over coffee and can get back to appreciating woodblocks.

clink
