I am puzzled. Since it is time to date the prints, would it be possible that this print was really made in September 1855, a few month prior to the official beginning of the 100 views of Edo Series ?
The known original edition of this print is supposed to be May 1857. But the use of a aratame seal in conjunction with a zodiacal date seal was only made between 1853 to 1857, therefore dating this specific print to September 1855.
The paper of the print is consistent with an original edo era print from Hiroshige, the same type you would find in the 1840's / 1850's. The color, touch, everything is consistent.
It is not a 1918 reprint. The blocks are definitely different from the 1857's edition. Could this be a fake ? If so, why would it be dated to September 1855 ? Or could it be a pre-edition ?

Any takes on this ?
