This is a reproduction of a 18th century design (after a an original woodblock print or painting) by the Kyoto artist Nishikawa Sukenobu (1671-1750). Early 18th century, woodblock prints were not published in color, but only in black & white (sumizuri-e).

The text at the base in Japanese refers to a date Meiji 32 which corresponds with 1899.

Guy.
