This is a print by Utamaro I from the series 'Bijin ichidai gojűsan tsugi' (The lives of beautiful women along with the fifty-three stations). The series dates from 1795 and may well be the first depicting the Tôkaidô (ref. Jilly Traganou, The Tôkaidô Road: Traveling and Representation in Edo and Meiji Japan, 2004, p. 165 - available online at Google books).
