The signature at the left in the cartouche reads 'Utagawa Yasuhide ga'. The subject is probaly written at the right. Yasuhide was one of the pupils of Utagawa Kuniyasu and was active as a designer of prints (only a very few survive) and as a book illustrator, late 1810s to 1830s. This work seems to be hand painted at some point indeed. Interesting find.
