I saw the following print and want to buy it. The seller claims it is an original by Yoshiiku. I decided to search the database here to ensure that it is.
The image was identified, however I noticed one crucial difference between my print and the one in the database. That is, The lantern on the top left corner that contains Japanese inscription, in my print, it is filled with colour red, and in the database print, it is blank. Please see the URL below:
I tried the other prints that this seller has that he claims to be from Yoshiiku. And I found the same story with all of them. They all have the lantern that contains the artist's inscription in red colour.
Can anyone tell me of this indicates that the copy I have my eye on may be a forgery or a later facsimile. is there another reason for this kind of discrepancy between prints ?
The print I am trying to buy is part of a collection on ebay at:
Many thanks, Rez
