The lady-in-waiting in the right-hand panel is named as 'Okunoe', and definitely not Yashio. In the play, there is a lady called 'Okinoi' so I presume this character relates to her. As for the tray, I can't tell exactly, but since it is not accompanied by anyone else I doubt that it's the candy. It looks more like the tray of food that Okinoi previously prepared but was rejected by Masaoka.
