The illustration gives the name of the creature as:

オリハント orihanto

Because 'Olifant' ('elephant') can't easily be pronounced in Japanese, that was the best approximation.

The Japanese name for an elephant has always been
象 zou

And, the print also mentions that an オリハント orihanto can be found in

セイロン seiron

Meaning the island of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), and referring to the Dutch East India trading company.
