It's a portrait of the courtesan Nanasato (七里) of the Sugata-Ebiya house (姿海老屋), and it was probably published about a hundred years before it was presemted to your grandfather. In the absence of a signature it's very difficult to know by whom it was designed. One would expect a signature, a publisher's mark and perhaps a censor's seal on a print like this. Perhaps these could be covered by the matting?
