There is a print in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art attributed to Teisai Hokuba with an unusual signature that I'm hoping someone will have insight into. The signature is said to read "Teisai ga", but written "貞斎画" rather than his usual "蹄斎". However, I can't find any other evidence of Hokuba signing in this way.

Stylistically, the design looks to me that it could be Hokuba, and it doesn't look like any Teisai Senchō I've seen. So possibly it is just a whimsical sound-alike signature that Hokuba used only very rarely? Or maybe it is by some other obscure Katsushika-school artist?

Any thoughts appreciated!
