I was wondering why the title mentioned a river. At first, I thought that it was an allusion to the Tama house of courtesans in the Yoshiwara pleasure district of Edo. But it seems that Tamagawa has inspired poets since Heian time, sometimes in relation to beautiful women. See:

Furthermore, 玉 can mean jewel, pearl, beautiful, even female entertainer. So I now believe that Tamagawa here has to be taken in a figurative sense.
