The artist is Utagawa Kunitomi (歌川国富, active. ca. 1804-1844), a pupil of Toyokuni II. Signed 'Kasentei Kunitomi ga' (花川亭国富画).

This print is from a series in aiban format 'Gosekku mitate michiyuki' (五節句見立道行) published in 1824 by Izumiya Ichibei.

The standing figure of Iwai Hanshirô V (1776-1847) left as Shirai Gompachi with Iwai Shijaku I V (1804-1845) as his lover, the courtesan Komurasaki, kneeling before him. Probably from a series of famous lovers couples, but not directly connected to a precise kabuki play.

Guy.
