The design belongs to an 1883 series entitled "Nishiki-e shūshindan" 錦絵修身談 ("Brocade Prints for Moral Education") by various students of Yoshitoshi. These prints have quirky signatures, with a primary artist named followed by one or two additional artist names. This print has Toshikata 年方 as the primary artist, but also names Toshichika 年親 (here とし親) and Toshimitsu 年参 (here とし参).
