Date: 1885
From the series “New Selection of Eastern Brocade Pictures”, this is Gishi Youchi no zu. A man throws a brazier at a sword-wielding assailant, the ashes scattering in a fine cloud. By his outfit we can surmise that the sword-wielder is one of the 47 Ronin, as well as by the title, which refers to their famous night attack. Later edition, lacking the 3-color cartouche of the first edition. Keyes Series No. 479, 14.12/1885 No. 4.
