This is a cover from volume 40 of "(Hokusetsu bidan) Jidai kagami" [北雪美談] 時代加々見, illustrated by Kunisada II. The series was published serially starting in 1854, continuing into the 1870s or 1880s. An inner page of volume 40 bears a date seal for the 4th month of 1857.
From right to left the text reads:
為永春水作 (written by Tamenaga Shunsui)
歌川國貞画 (illustrated by Utagawa Kunisada)
芝神明前 (Shiba Shinmeimae [publisher address])
若狭屋與市板 (published by Wakasaya Yoichi)
